JETT LAWRENCE

Seeking to continue his streak of excellent performances alive, Honda’s Jett Lawrence was determined to establish a victorious presence yet again, while stationed in Pennsylvania. He was sensational in practice, and carved through the rutted soil with precision aboard his meticulously crafted Honda. Once garnering a phenomenal gate choice, it was time for Lawrence to plunge into the opening laps of the first moto. Obtaining remarkable traction when powering from the starting grate, Lawrence continuously upshifted while taking second, just behind his brother. He stalked the rear wheel of the elder family member for a few laps, but to begin the forth circuit, he would make the pass on Hunter — as the number ninety-six machine faltered in the second corner on the racetrack (after appearing to wash-out in a hooking rut of sorts), and Jett then took command of the field before leaping into the roller section. Through the next twelve laps of competition, the Lawrence duo never really separated from one another...however among them and the rest of the pack, the gap to third was remarkable. Nevertheless, though Hunter would make a substantial effort to try and surpass Jett when nearing the checkered flag, it was the younger of the Lawrence duo who rounded the final corner in first...taking the moto victory! In the second portion of racing, the Australian managed to immediately occupy a standing of third, and then second, after passing Phil Nicoletti before the end of the first lap. After a few minutes of pursuing Jason Anderson, who led at that point, Lawrence would attempt to make a pass on the initial left-handed sweeper of the wooded area...but the rivalry with Anderson would lead the Kawasaki to run the Honda athlete as far to the outside of the racetrack as possible. Meanwhile, Chase Sexton swooped to the inside — pushing Lawrence (briefly) to third, before he then resumed the fight for second, and overtook the veteran from New Mexico. Just a few minutes later, would he and Chase Sexton partake in a fight for the lead. And in this instance, when departing from the final corner in the woods, Lawrence’s crafty line(s) were enough to overtake Sexton once and for all. But the Illinois rider was persistent in continuing to attack the pace of the Australian. Jett appeared to slow down, a slight bit, when nearing the twenty-minute mark...which subsequently allowed a pass to be made by Sexton, just before the SMX banner(ed) flyaway jump. At this stage in the moto, Lawrence seemed to falter a slight bit — but wasn’t going to give up, even in the second-place role. A series of back and forth instances with valiant effort were broadcast by both athletes...until Sexton’s unfortunate crash before the large, flyaway obstacle was enough to grant Jett the lead, once and for all. Despite a bit of a slower(ed) pace in the latter stages, Lawrence appeared to be in control...resulting in a moto victory, and overall win in Pennsylvania!
