DAILY BREAD TIGER WOOD
Tiger Wood of North Queensland, Australia, has traveled far and wide chasing the motocross dream. In the 2024 racing season, Wood transferred his talents to the great white North and linked up with the Honda Canada GDR Fox Racing squad, making his pro debut. Wood says that the experience in Canada was invaluable, and the lessons learned about himself both on and off the bike will no doubt continue to foster progression. After his time up North, The Aussie rider returned to the United States and comfortably situated himself on the Supercross grind. Training with the best of the best to continue to sharpen his skills and prepare for the next chapter. If he isn’t on the track or in the gym, he’s on the pickleball court, battling opponents with the same ferocity and strategic prowess as he does on the race course. After intense battles with Blake Davies and Tyler Gibbs earlier in the month, Wood found the final series podium in Alberta for the Iron Horse Arenacross series. With his pursuit of the big show fully in progress, Wood is sure to be one of the most exciting riders to watch in the 2025 season. We caught up with Tiger to get the details on the man from down under.
What have you been up to?
I’m doing good! At the moment I’ve just got my head down and working hard. I raced up north in Canada this year and learned so many valuable lessons about myself on/off the bike so just doing the best I can to improve!
Which rider do you find to be more educational to you when watching them ride?
I think it has to be either Jett or Hunter Lawrence. They both have great technique along with style and I feel every time I watch them I am learning something if not a few things!
What was your first Motoplayground race?
I’m pretty sure my first Motoplayground race was Spring A Ding Ding in 2019. I can’t remember my results, but I definitely can remember having a great time and just feeling super excited, and I couldn’t wait to start racing! My favorite part about Spring a Ding Ding would have to be watching the pit bike race; there’s always carnage!
Who would you say has been your biggest competition racing?
I think Drew Adams would be the guy I’ve battled the most with because we went to a lot of the same races with us both being on the east coast.
What did the Wood family’s life look like before MTF?
Well it sure was a lot different than what it is now, Lol. I’m originally from Australia and moved here so I could race motocross in the US. Before I moved, we were just a typical family living in Australia!
Did you race as much in Australia as you do here in the states?
No I only raced locally and did a couple of big races a year so I think I definitely race here more now which is super cool and very grateful!
As a kid in Australia did you dream of coming to America and racing professionally?
Yes! It was always a dream of mine to come and race in the US but I never really thought it would happen until it actually did! Still is my dream to race here professionally and I think I’m definitely getting closer but I’ve got a lot of work do till then!
What’s on your bucket list?
My biggest bucket list item would be that 450 Supercross championship trophy but there are definitely a lot of little ones that hopefully lead up to such a big one like that!
What are something’s you enjoy doing outside of riding dirt bikes?
What I’ve recently been enjoying is pickleball! My life is pretty busy with everything that goes into being an athlete but I do enjoy going out to the court and having some friendly but competitive matches with my friends!
What is the strangest American food?
Oh man, the food is definitely different here but I’d say one of the strangest foods in the US would be your biscuits and gravy Lol. I’ve never come around to liking it but I know there are a lot of Americans that love it!
