Alessandro Carminati of Mexico City made a huge splash in the amateur scene in 2024. A soldier in the EBR Performance Army, Carminati was subject to battles with the best and brightest on a daily basis. Iron proved to sharpen iron, as the 17-year-old would go on to win big at Mini O’s in 125cc (12-17) B/C Supercross distinction at Gatorback Cycle Park. Carminati preceded that title with 6th place and 3rd place overall finishes after impressive rides at The Motoplayground Race in Ponca City. Earlier in the year, in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, Carminati put his remarkable smoothness and line choice on display after a bar-to-bar battle with Brennon Harrison that left spectators stunned. Alessandro would secure a 5th overall finish in the Schoolboy 1 class, as well as hoisting the third-place hardware in the 125cc (12-17) B/C class at Loretta’s. Heading into 2025, Carminati is insistent on continuing to prove himself at the upper echelon of the amateur rankings. He’s been burning the midnight oil to perfect his physical fitness off the bike through strenuous training routines that are predicated on which country he is training in at that particular time. This unique regimen could very likely be the secret sauce that puts the 71 on the top of the box in 2025.

Give us the basics.

Alessandro Carminati, 17 years old, Mexico City

Tell us about getting your first motorcycle.

At 2 and a half years old, I got my first motorcycle, a Piwi Yamaha with side wheels to prevent me from falling. By the age of 3, I had my first supermoto race in Mexico, and from that moment on, my passion for motorcycles was born.

Describe a typical day in your life.

When I'm in Mexico, my training plan consists of going to the gym in the mornings, where I do 1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weightlifting. After that, I go have breakfast and at noon, I head out to ride my motorcycle and get in some practice laps. Later, I go eat and then spend time preparing everything for the next day. For the rest of the day, I either play with my dogs or go out with my family. When I'm in the USA, I wake up very early and start with a warm-up on the stationary bike and on the floor. Then, I head to my training spot, TTMX, from 10 am to 2 pm. After we finish, we go eat, and in the afternoon, or evening, I either go for a run or ride my bike.

If you were forced to have a non-athletic career, what would it be?

If I weren't doing what I'm doing, l'd probably be into mountain biking or working as a motorcycle mechanic.

Tell us about your funnest family member.

I think my mom and I always have a blast when we're
together.

Best moment on a motocross bike.

My second time at Loretta Lynn's, I managed to win a moto in the 125B/C class, and as I finished the race, I was greeted by my parents, sister, coach, the Sciortino family, and the team owner, all in tears of emotion.

Favorite pre-race meal?

A strawberry smoothie, scrambled eggs with bacon, and a cup of coffee.

Gnarliest crash you’ve ever had.

I had two severe crashes on my track. One was on an 85cc bike, coming out of a turn, the bike slipped and threw me off, breaking my left tibia and fibula. The other was on a pit bike, when the front tire locked up and crushed my right leg, breaking my tibia, fibula, dislocating my big toe, and fracturing some bones in my foot.

Best road trip story.

My favorite trip was when we went to Loretta's in 2024 in a truck with air conditioning.

Worst road trip story.

The worst was when we went to Loretta's in 2023 in a Sprinter van without AC, all the way from Mexico City to Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

What do you love about being at the track besides racing your bike?

What I enjoy the most is being with my friends and my dad, doing what I love. Like when we have barbecue or when we buy ice cream.

What are you looking forward to getting out of this sport?

Developing skills and new techniques, and becoming a world champion.

Give some props to everyone helping you out.

Grateful to everyone who supports me, starting with my parents, the Sciortino family, my coach Vann Martin, the TTMX family, Matthew Landry, Colin Edwards, Josh, owner of EBR Performance, and all my sponsors:

What are your superstitions, weird habits, or routines?

My morning routine includes taking several natural supplements such as creatine, protein, etc.

What is the fitness routine or training regimen off the bike?

When I'm in Mexico, my workout routine consists of 1 hour of functional training and 1 hour of weightlifting. In the US, I start my day with morning stretches and afternoon cardio. On days when I'm not riding my motorcycle, I do weightlifting exercises.

Give us a hot take.

I'm confident in my abilities and l've proven myself to be the best in Mexico  in my motocross category, with a strong track record of success in multiple categories
