12-year-old Eidan Steinbrecher is the living manifestation of the phrase “the kids are alright.” Steinbrecher spent much of his 2024 season battling through the notoriously fast 85cc classes. The Team Dunlop Elite rider demonstrated incredible poise and consistency throughout events this year, collecting honors such as a 2nd place finish at Mini O’s in 85cc (9-11) SX and 7th Overall at Loretta’s in the 85cc (10-12) class. After an impressive display of grit in Oklahoma, the 24 machine found the top of the box at The Motoplayground Race in Ponca City, winning the title in the 85cc (9-11) limited class. However, the winning did not stop when the sun set in Ponca City. That weekend, Steinbrecher served as an ambassador for the World National AmTryke Challenge, helping local racers rise above disability and limitation to enjoy friendly competition and camaraderie on the race track. Eidan describes the event by saying, “I was honored to be an ambassador to help these fellow racers fulfill their dreams for just one night.” There is no doubt that talent will take you far, but in the end, it’s the character that counts. We caught up with Eidan to get the ins and outs of the 2-4.

Give us the basics.

Eidan Steinbrecher, 12 years old, Fair Oaks, CA

Tell us about getting your first motorcycle.

Oh boy- it's been so long that I can barely remember. I am sure that I was super excited though because I always begged my mom and dad for one when I was in diapers.

Describe a typical day in your life.

Wake up, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, go train- sometimes it's on the bike, and sometimes training is off the bike at the gym or on a bicycle, then I come home to do school work. Lately- I have been driving RC cars after all of my daily stuff is done.

If you were forced to have a non-athletic career, what would it be?

Nothing- LOL. Everything I want to do is athletic!!!!!

Tell us about your funnest family member.

Definitely my brother Ezra. He is sarcastic and witty all the time.

Best moment on a motocross bike.

My very first year traveling and racing on a 50 and I won my first #1 plate at Freestone.

Describe your training program.

Eating lots of food and drinking lots of water. When I am at home in California I typically train on the bike Tuesday through Thursday at different local tracks. If there is no race that weekend and the weather is good then I will typically train one or two days on the weekend depending on how much I rode during the week. I also do 2-3 days of training off the bike with a much-needed rest day.

Favorite pre-race meal?

Chicken, rice, and broccoli

Gnarliest crash you’ve ever had.

I have had so many that Its hard to remember. I think one of my worst ones was the day before leaving for Loretta’s, I was training at Moto Sandbox and had a gnarly get-off and ended up in the hospital. I almost did not race that year at Loretta’s.

Best road trip story.

I honestly have so many but one of the most memorable was my first year at Loretta's, we had stopped at a really cool swimming hole in New Mexico with Hunter Yoder and Slade Varola.

Worst road trip story.

One year we were headed to Ryan Villopoto's track in the PNW and I was riding in my friend’s motorhome. The slide came out while we were driving and it ripped the electrical out and It started to catch on fire.

What do you love about being at the track besides racing your bike?

I love hanging out with my friends.

What are you looking forward to getting out of this sport?

I haven't thought that far ahead. I am focused on the end goal right now.

Give some props to everyone helping you out.

There are a lot. My mom and dad, my mechanic Mike Staggs, Fox, Matt Mora, Dunlop Elite and Rob Fox, Nick Bliler and 100%, Jeff Cernic and Mx Tire, Joel and FMF, Factory Connection, Tamer Hole Shot, Thrill Seekers, Jeff Pestana and MX Clinic, Greg Albertson and GAME Moto, Mika Metals, Lamson Motorsports, 180 decals.

What are your superstitions, weird habits, or routines?

I always do my prayer to the lord and do this weird bump thing with my arms to get pumped up and the blood flowing.

What is the fitness routine or training regimen off the bike?

It's top secret!!!! Just know I hit the gym and my bicycle for training off the bike.

Give us a hot take.

Oh boy- I'm going to go with the topic of 2025 Supercross champs... for the 250's my picks are probably the unpopular opinion of JuJu for West coast, Levi Kitchen for East Coast and Levi getting the East/West shootout. For 450's I am thinking Eli Tomac- going out with a bang.

Do you have any hidden talents or weird skills?

I am actually good at golf and don't really go that often.
