15-year-old phenom Caden Dudney was categorically one of the most dominant riders to swing his leg over a bike in the 2024 racing season. The number 40 started his year winning championships at RCSX Daytona and the JS7 spring championships at Freestone. Dudney’s reign continued after a pro-level performance at the ranch, where he would take home two national championships in the 250B and Schoolboy 2 (12-17) BC classes. Dudney was then given the distinct honor of being crowned the 2024 Amateur rider of the year by the AMA. After a masterful stretch with Team Green, Dudney’s time with Kawasaki came to a close. In November, The number 40 found itself clad across a Monster Energy, Star Racing Yamaha rocket ship.

Blue looked good on Caden, as later that month, he took home four total championship titles at Mini O’s in the 250A and 250 Pro Sport classes on both the Motocross and Supercross tracks.

The stage is set for Dudney’s continued rise to greatness in the new year. We were able to catch up with the 4-0 to get the details on all things Caden Dudney.

Give us the basics.

Caden Dudney, 15, Athens Texas

Tell us about getting your first motorcycle.

I remember riding it at Riverside Raceway in Winterset, IA over a double that was muddy and riding it in the yard. I had made a jump between two trees.

Describe a typical day in your life.

My days are all over the place! There is always gym and food involved, though.

If you were forced to have a non-athletic career, what would it be?

Non-athletic is a hard one. I haven’t really thought about it. I could be a lawyer. I like to argue with my mom.

Tell us about your funnest family member.

My brother Avery is definitely, the funnest. We do just about everything together.

Best moment on a motocross bike.

Hitting the whoops for the first time.

Describe your training program.

I do a warm up in the morning before riding, ride my bike and then do gym or yoga after

Favorite pre-race meal?

Right now my favorite is cottage cheese and an avocado with some salt and pepper

Gnarliest crash you’ve ever had.

Oh man. I’ve had a couple but it depends on what you call gnarly. I crashed in the whoops and broke my arm and was really close to cutting my nerve in half. I’ve also swapped out on the 250 a couple of times, landing on my back.

Best road trip story.

We were on our way home from a race and both my parents were mad because we couldn’t find any place to eat and the roads in the town were really confusing. My dad pulled into a KFC and said he didn’t care if anyone wanted to eat there that was the only stop. My brother then seriously said “I hope they have chicken here”. He didn’t even know what KFC was.

Worst road trip story.

My mom, brother and I were on our way to Florida with our dog. We stopped for the night, got our hotel room and went to eat. We left our dog in the room, like we always do when we went to eat. When we got back to the room, he had pooped on the bed. We ended up sleeping in the van that night instead of the room.

What do you love about being at the track besides racing your bike?

Being able to see my friends

What are you looking forward to getting out of this sport?

To meet people and to have fun racing my dirt bike for as long as I can

Give some props to everyone helping you out.

There’s a really long list of amazing people who have helped me over the years. My mom, dad, brother and grandma are at the top of the list along with the many trainers who have helped me out and are still in my corner like Kyle Regal, Ben Lamay, Robbie Reynard, Kevin Windham and now Swanie. There have also been a lot of people in the industry, Gregg Lynk, Tyler Nowlin, Pete Russell, Ryan Holliday, Hope Stillmock, Matt Mora, Kenny Day, Christian Kap, Aaron Cain, Mike Schalkoff, Aaron Nixon, Ryan Hagy and Bob Walker, just to name a few. Lol

What are your superstitions, weird habits, or routines?

If I crash in a certain set of gear, I won’t wear it again and if I win in a certain pair of gloves I will only wear those ones. I also really like hand guards. I think they make me go faster. When I am on the gate, I have a routine where I adjust my goggles a million times.

What is the fitness routine or training regimen off the bike?

I road bike, gym, run, yoga, fight with my brother.

Give us a hot take.

Hand guards belong on a dirt bike, even in sx.

Do you have any hidden talents or weird skills?

I can ride a unicycle.
