HAIDEN DEEGAN

Though the championship had been clinched at last week’s Budds Creek event, Haiden Deegan still strove for the highest honors while waiting for competition to commence in the state of Indiana on Saturday. The Yamaha rider had wowed fans on Press Day with spectacular feats through the air, and positioned himself on the grid (after a phenomenal showing in qualification) with confidence that couldn’t be denied by any member of the 250MX opposition. Upon leaping from the grate, Deegan would nearly immediately find himself in an unfortunate scenario where he would crash — though he quickly remounted the motorcycle and would charge to a position of twenty-ninth by the end of the first lap. He relentlessly clawed his way to the front of the pack, working his way into sixteenth by the sixteen-minute mark, before tipping over once more before the finish line. Though not necessarily losing a position, multiple seconds would be lost on his behalf. Nevertheless, the pursuit would continue once more where he proceeded to battle with multiple teammates (including Max Anstie) along with Jalek Swoll, before he crossed the finish line at the checkered flag to obtain a score of eleventh. For moto two, the champion of the division was seeking redemption. He embodied the utmost determination and would storm from the launchpad with endless aggression, acquiring a position of sixth as the first full lap of the contest was completed. Though by the third circuit, he had made his way into the bronze-medal slot — seeking to pass both, Chance Hymas and Tom Vialle. He would definitively assert his machine ahead of the Honda by the end of the fourth lap...where he then relentlessly hounded KTM’s Tom Vialle! The battle was legendary, with incredible gamesmanship being displayed by both opponents as they tried to out-maneuver one another. Through various lines on the racetrack, they were shroud-to-shroud — separated by mere inches as they sped forward at incredible speeds! However, it was on the tenth circuit where a sensational pass would be made near the mechanic’s area — where Deegan surged forward into the right-handed bend, and exited the corner with a surplus of momentum that nullified the charge of Vialle. From that point forward, Haiden wouldn’t waver as he solely focused on the finish line...steadily ascending to the checkered flag (for victory) with the crowd cheering for him! And as a result, his ability to persevere equated to fourth overall on the day!
