FREDDIE NOREN

The consistency of Freddie Noren was a trait that had to be acknowledged as the final round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship came to fruition. The athlete from Sweden was a staple at the front of the field throughout numerous seasons of the outdoor series, and proceeded to make quite the impact as round eleven of the 2024 tour began in Crawfordsville, Indiana. His lap-times in practice were commendable, and led to a ninth-place gate choice...which eventually translated to an opening standing (in moto-one) of fourteenth. The pack in front of him was portraying quite the sense of intensity, with athletes weaving every which way. But Noren was steadfast with his charging speed through the Godzilla jump, and returned into view with incredible revs as he flew into vision of the infield crowd. He and Devin Simonson were partaking in quite the battle when speeding toward the finish-line area, swapping lines amid the switchback sector of corners. Once around the Yamaha rider, Noren would have to contend with Christian Craig...and he would surpass the Husqvarna athlete on the ninth circuit. From that point onward, it was quite the process to keep the former 250SX champion at bay — but he would do so, while trying to pursue Yamaha’s Phil Nicoletti to the best of his ability. Though unable to overtake the ClubMX athlete, Noren’s performance was applauded by countless fans near the finish-line area...earning a score of ninth before entering into the second round of action. The track was still in solid shape at this point in the afternoon, and Noren took advantage of the abundance of traction by powering to tenth in the running order as action began. Ruts were now trenched across the face of the wall-jump after the finish line, but Noren’s balance was top-tier and allowed him to speed to the summit with fearlessness — and those traits were sustained throughout the entirety of the racecourse, even as he and Phil Nicoletti (again) would locate one another. The New York native was rather superb in the second-half of the circuit, and proceeded to slightly distance himself in a multitude of tight sections as Noren would lessen the gap among various straightaways. This process was carried on throughout the entire of the moto, and even with pressure from Malcolm Stewart beginning to rise as the checkered flag neared, Noren never faltered. He was mistake-free when it counted most, keeping the Floridian and Shane McElrath at bay...all while the steadily moving to the finish-line, to earn ninth for this moto as well, and ninth overall for round eleven!
