RYDER DIFRANCESCO

The GasGas athlete had been racing with superb speed in recent weeks, and Ryder DiFrancesco aspired to flourish throughout the treacherous conditions of Unadilla. The facility would undergo immense precipitation in the days prior to racing, but the track crew would prep the course to an optimal platform of competition as the green flag waved for the first 250MX race of the afternoon. Through the first few laps of moto-one, Ryder seemed to be polished among the substantial elevation changes of the New York layout. He was catching athletes like Daxton Bennick, all the while defending his position from Jo Shimoda while he (DiFrancesco) resided in eighth. He would advance seventh for a short amount of time before being overtaken by Jo Shimoda...and he attempted to mirror the Honda rider for a number of laps as they made their way past the halfway point. But there were a number of competitors now trailing him, and seeking to pass him if the opportunity was presented. One of the first to approach his rear wheel, was that of Pierce Brown...and the Utah native was swift with his maneuvering when overtaking Ryder. Next to come, would be Julien Beaumer...followed by Ty Masterpool. The competition remained fierce through the fifteenth-lap, however Ryder was going to present the strongest of intensities until exiting the raceway...ultimately gathering tenth at the checkered flag. For the second-moto, DiFrancseco would hover around the final stages of the top-ten before making a slight mistake, and sliding to thirteenth. Though he was relentless in his clawing back to the front of the pack, and after fighting past that of Daxton Bennick, would undergo a battle alongside Max Anstie and Ty Masterpool. He followed Anstie’s lines through the high-speed section(s), hoping that the veteran could locate a smooth pathway or two en route to the final stages of the moto. All the while, Masterpool relentlessly pressured him...creating quite the chess match of sorts, in regard to how far he could drift from the main line (without being passed). Though ultimately overtaken by the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki opponent, Ryder would keep Triumph’s Joey Savatgy at bay while surging through the checkered flag circuit — and his final position (of eleventh) would be enough to earn tenth overall, just ahead of KTM’s Tom Vialle in the overall standings of the 250MX division.
