JORDON SMITH

The veteran of the division would return to the front of the field once more as the round of Unadilla came to fruition. Jordon Smith could never be counted out, and proceeded to showcase yet again, that he was an elite contender in the 250MX division. After qualifying fourteenth, he would rocket from the gate and into the right-handed first turn to begin the first moto of the afternoon...garnering a position of eighth after the first lap of the contest had been completed. However on lap two, he would undergo a mistake and falter to seventeenth in the running order. The climb to the front of the field then began...though opponents like Dilan Schwartz and Coty Schock (among many others) would stand in his way. At this point in the race, Smith appeared magnificent through the deep trenches of the New York circuit, doing his best to remain balanced despite pot-holes and acceleration bumps now amassing everywhere over the hilly landscape. Though the chassis would chatter on occasion, there wasn’t anything that could force Jordon off of the throttle...and as he eventually surpassed opponents like Nicholas Romano and Daxton Bennick, Smith remained relatively mistake-free en route to the checkered flag — earning twelfth as the dust settled on moto-one. For the second round of racing, Smith once again matched his first moto opening position (of eighth) as the timer began to tick. The track was now much rougher than what was encountered in moto-one, but Smith’s ability to keep the chassis on-track was paramount in residing within the top-ten. He would pull tear-off’s when flying over the largest tabletop jump on the track, “wowing” the fans with incredible maneuvering while soaring amid a sky-shot of sorts. Upon landing, his Yamaha engine was revved to the highest velocity — and he weaved through the subtle chicane while standing atop the foot-pegs. This helped him to rebound after being passed by Garrett Marchbanks on the fifth lap...hooking onto the Kawasaki which in return, moved them both forward (and around) Pierce Brown. The next opponent to be overtaken, was that of Julien Beaumer...and the KTM athlete was then surpassed by the veteran with the checkered flag approaching rather rapidly. Smith would do his best to follow the patterns and line selection of Marchbanks, which resulted in an admirable flow being sustained through the checkered flag. In the end, it was Smith’s second moto run (of sixth) that propelled him to seventh overall in the final standings.
