Jalek Swoll’s sense of determination in New York could hardly be described. The athlete aboard the Triumph TF 250-X appeared motivated to make a statement within the 250MX division, and prove that he could contend at the pinnacle of the field, just as he’d done in season’s past. Many in the crowd knew that he could strive for victory, especially after the Floridian had showcased a race-winning prowess just a few season’s ago at High Point. Nevertheless, Swoll was focused on the present moment...and after generating a notable gate choice for moto-one (i.e. tweflth) his reaction time when paired with the selection on the grid, equated to a strong starting position in the field. After the waving of the green flag, and following five-minutes of action, Jalek Swoll appeared solidified in the fifth-place standing...though Garrett Marchbanks wasn’t far from his rear tire. The Triumph machine appeared to be working well on this New York circuit, garnering traction in a multitude of areas that ranged from hard-packed, extensive ruts, or even the small portions of mud that remained in some of the lower areas of competitive surfaces. The bike’s versatility was next level, and Swoll was flourishing when charging through the halfway point of the moto. He and Garrett Marchbanks were in a realm of speed amongst themselves, creating quite the battle for fifth as the checkered flag became nearer. Marchbanks was applying heavy pressure when entering into the twelfth circuit and despite the Kawasaki rider eventually overtaking him, Swoll continued to accelerate with every bit of his skillset when storming to the finish-line jump. Ultimately earning a score of sixth, he then moved into the following round of racing with confidence. An excellent fourth-place position was then obtained by Swoll to begin the second moto, but Tom Vialle would then pass him to deter him to fifth. He remained there for a long portion of time, mimicking the lines of the KTM rider while charging into the eventual eighth circuit. Once surpassing the halfway point, he knew that his pace could be sustained through the checkered flag...while many others in the field would slow down, due to fatigue and the ever-evolving racetrack. Though the circuit was in its roughest form, Swoll would thrive — and as he gained a position (due to Jo Shimoda’s unfortunate crash), he would appear to have the fourth-place standing clinched if he could remain upright and mistake-free. His veteran mentality then excelled as stakes were at their highest, and his substantial gap over Garrett Marchbanks was enough to not only earn fourth-place in the moto, but third-place overall as well!
