HUNTER LAWRENCE

Honda’s Hunter Lawrence was seeking to rebound, and dethrone Chase Sexton from the streak in which he was on. And by all accounts, for practice, would the Honda rider appear to be a on a similar trajectory to the KTM rider...and the battle for the lead was certain to take place in the upcoming afternoon races. A valiant effort from the starting line of moto-one would propel Hunter Lawrence into an immediate fight with Chase Sexton, for the second-place position. Lawrence was able to solidify the runner-up placement with hard-charging, and then stormed alongside Aaron Plessinger on the mechanic’s area straightaway! It was just before the first full lap was completed...and the number ninety-six was fast enough to claim the lead, definitively. He was exceptional when residing first, until the halfway point neared...when Chase Sexton would close in. And even as the Illinois native would pass him, just before the flyaway tabletop jump, Lawrence’s ability to quickly counter with valiant downhill speed upon landing was enough to regain the position that was once his! But the fight was far from over...and Lawrence continued to display immense fortitude through the final laps, while visualizing a gold medal being earned as all concluded. In the end, the Australian excelled to victory-lane on the new, 2025 Honda 450 model...and earned the highest score of them all before moving into the latter round of competition! The second round would begin, and Hunter’s leap from the line was a bit lackluster in comparison to his usual starting position. It was still inside of the top-ten, but the (roughly) seventh-place standing was rather difficult to work from with the myriad of high-profile competitors just in front of him. He proceeded to chip away...making passes on Christian Craig, Cooper Webb, and Ken Roczen as well as time progressed. The conditions were challenging, but Lawrence displayed immense tenacity as time would pass. And with less than a minute on the clock, he would surpass Jason Anderson via a daring, high-speed move on a rutted portion of the far side racetrack. He and the Kawasaki rider would nearly collide, but Hunter never let off of the throttle en route to capturing the third-place position! It was then an all-out fight to overtake Dylan Ferrandis, and the willingness to engage in high speeds would enable Hunter to claim second, as they powered atop “Screw-U” for the final time! He was finalized here, and then took second-overall as well!
