The Frenchman was commendable in every aspect of the raceway as practice commenced for this late July weekend, and Dylan Ferrandis’ outlook for the moto’s thereafter appeared rather promising. A notable first-moto start was put forth by the French rider, where he maintained a fifth-place designation until nearly ten minutes of action had transpired...when Chase Sexton would overtake him, deterring him to sixth. He had an abundant gap over Phil Nicoletti, however, and proceeded to charge forward while disregarding the fact that Christian Craig was also not far behind. Lap by lap, the smooth style of Ferrandis flourished — throughout the entirety of the sixteen lap contest. And as he hopped through the steep whoop section on the final occasion for the opening afternoon moto, his concluding result (of sixth), would be a solid accolade among this stacked 450cc field. The Frenchman lurked within single digit territory to begin round two of afternoon competition, and Ferrandis then saw an opportunity to advance, with Justin Cooper descending out of the top-ten. He then would overtake the fifth-place position from Malcolm Stewart, on the sixth lap...where he then established a notable pace amongst an extensive run of circuits. With Cooper’s undeniable talent aboard the Yamaha, now out of the equation per se, it was then a question of if, Ferrandis could continue this run through the checkered flag? There were thousands of fans on the fence-line that awaited the battle between he and the aforementioned number thirty-two, along with Malcolm Stewart who had to be acknowledged in the sixth-place position. But, Ferrandis somehow managed to thrive under pressure from the previously mentioned Husqvarna rider...remaining calculated and composed while sweeping from various powder berms, to established ruts that had been trenched among the shadows and wooded area. His precision aboard the Honda chassis was world-class and propelled him to taking the two-lap board with unwavering confidence. Lap-traffic had now played into this second-moto narrative, but Ferrandis appeared a step or two, ahead of many scenarios that were set to play out in front of him. His unorthodox lines when descending from the highest elevation changes, would keep him out of trouble...and led to a small, but significant margin being sustained over that of Stewart through the checkered flag. Ultimately finalized in fifth, his assembly of scores (i.e. six-five) solidified the French rider in sixth, within the final record book.
