CHASE SEXTON

The momentum of Chase Sexton amid this 450MX Championship was palpable, and noticed by all in attendance as practice began on Saturday in the Northwest. After once again, establishing his presence at the front of the field, he advanced into the first moto of the afternoon with an ambition to eventually claim victory. After hovering around the latter portion(s) of the top-five on the first lap, Sexton would wash-out just after Horsepower Hill. Though only losing one position within the running order, he appeared to reside in a definitive sixth-place standing after five minutes of action. However, continuous instances of over-jumping, flat-landing, and abundant throttle-revving were accompanying him to higher positioning within the running order...as the Illinois native then surpassed Dylan Ferrandis for fifth. Sexton then charged toward Jason Anderson, whom he would soar past, when departing the from the initial downhill on the course to claim third...which was approximately at the halfway point of the moto. He was fourth, with Hunter Lawrence not far ahead — but Justin Cooper was actually the next rider to be conquered, as Sexton’s pursuit on the aforementioned downhill (just minutes later) would create a pathway to the third-place residency! Hunter Lawrence’s tip-over then enabled Sexton to claim second, and relentless charging then propelled Chase to battle with Aaron Plessinger, with less than three laps to go! “AP” would then stall the motorcycle, not long after the finish-line area...which acted as an open opportunity, for Chase to move forward and claim the gold medal position once and for all. As he crossed the finish-line with the moto victory, he was set to battle at the front of the pack once more, in moto-two. Starting within the top-five for the second segment of afternoon competition, he quickly worked his way into third after passing Justin Cooper — with his sights then set on Hunter Lawrence. It was on the fifth lap, where a daring leap from the elevated tree area acted as a catalyst of sorts, for an eventual pass to be made...and the KTM athlete had then secured second once and for all. Sexton was now approaching Jason Anderson, and with commanding speed, would be rather swift and agile when sweeping through the “S-Curve” of sorts, just after the finish-line on lap ten! There wasn’t anything that could stand within the path of the KTM rider at that point — and as the sixteen-circuit moto eventually concluded, it was Sexton who took the moto, and overall win!
