DYLAN FERRANDIS

It was evident that Dylan Ferrandis wanted to return to championship form, that was displayed only years ago. The Frenchman was a top-tier competitor, and set out to make an impact during the myriad of practice sessions that occurred on Saturday. That goal would be completed with a definitive swagger, and translated to Ferrandis having a notable clutch release and accompanying shifting points when leaping from the line, equating to a fifth-place standing, not far from Jason Anderson. However, just after the halfway point, Dylan would be overtaken by the Yamaha rider (i.e. Justin Cooper), deterring him to sixth, with Christian Craig now trailing him. Craig would lessen the margin between the two competitors as the two-lap board neared, but Ferrandis managed to slightly stretch the gap once more, en route to the checkered flag. Eventually earning a final standing of sixth, Dylan and his accompanying Honda team returned to the pit area to generate a game-plan for the moto that followed. Once into returning to battle in the hours that followed, Ferrandis accelerated through the first circuit with an extremely high intensity. He had sustained fourth through the majority of the opening lap, but would be surpassed by Chase Sexton – and then, Aaron Plessinger. After trying his best, to keep the Ohio native at bay. He (Ferrandis) remained in sixth at the halfway point, with a rather notable margin over Christian Craig who trailed. Lap by lap, he weaved through the countless ruts, pot-holes, and abrupt edges that were scattered amongst the course — doing his best to keep a thorough intensity, while lugging the Honda engine around the raceway. He was briefed by his mechanic that little time remained, but his gap over Christian Craig, appeared to be around eight-seconds when nearing the final stages of the moto. He couldn’t count out, the Husqvarna rider though, and pursued the concluding moments of the race with all of his might. It was easy to identify his determination as he remained on the throttle through his final quest of Mt.Martin, and as the checkered flag was thrown for this latter round of racing, Ferrandis’ result of sixth was enough to propel him to sixth overall in the final standings, too — earning thirty-two championship points, ahead of Husqvarna’s Christian Craig...and the momentum generated in Minnesota, is certain to carry into the slick conditions of the Washougal national next week. Where Ferrandis will undoubtedly excel.
