GARRETT MARCHBANKS

The rider out of Utah, had to be recognized for his talent on the 450cc motorcycle. Garrett Marchbanks had progressed to the premier ranks, and exceeded expectations as he constantly contended with the veterans of the division. He continued on that path, for the national at Red Bud as well — where every section of the Michigan circuit, would be attacked, with confidence aboard his ClubMX Yamaha machine. His momentum couldn’t be denied as the gate(s) fell in moto-one, with Garrett occupying ninth when passing by the green flag. He accelerated through the sweeping corner thereafter with superb momentum, using the brakes very little, into the opening bend that followed. Once racing past the mechanic’s area, fellow members of his team would applaud as he proceeded to track-down Shane McElrath and Grant Harlan. The task was then, to try and surpass Malcolm Stewart...but the Floridian was riding extremely well. He (Malcolm) would use his veteran characteristics as a means to move forward, pulling away from Marchbanks in certain aspects of the course. Though as they began to chip away toward the checkered flag, Garrett remained close to the athlete aboard the number twenty-seven machine — revving the engine of his Yamaha motor to the highest of velocities, to earn seventh as landed from the finish line tabletop. Into moto two, he and the rest of the field would fly — with Marchbanks obtaining a standing of eighth, as Chase Sexton proceeded to break away from the pack. There were numerous battles going along within the top-ten, however, and Marchanks was among them...racing his way forward while battling with Dylan Ferrandis — and the two athletes were contending for their respective positions, while attempting lessen the gap, that Malcolm Stewart (ahead) had made. Marchbanks was muscling his Yamaha chassis across the hillside, plowing through the steepest of braking bumps with an intense grip on the handlebars. As his forks drove through the toughest of chop, Garrett never left off of the throttle — which resulted in superb lap-times, well past the twenty-minute mark! He and Justin Cooper had then gone through a battle of sorts, for a standing near the top-five...and though Cooper would do enough to work his way by Garrett, the effort presented by the Utah native was second-to-none, and helped lead him to eighth in the moto, and seventh overall, within the record book!
