CHASE SEXTON

Chase Sexton aspired to contend for victory as the legendary Red Bud National began on Saturday. This was arguably his home-race on the outdoor circuit, and after logging countless laps here throughout his amateur career, the native of Illinois appeared to flourish throughout practice while elevating his speed on behalf of the roar(s) from the crowd, that surrounded the facility. He and his KTM were in perfect synchronization, which translated to a notable start for moto-one, just behind Hunter Lawrence and Aaron Plessinger. Eventually moving into third place, he would steadily begin to track-down his teammate, aboard the number seven machine. The thorough pressure eventually led to a pass being made, just before the halfway point, amid the roller section. Sexton’s speed couldn’t be denied by the Ohio native, and as a result, Sexton obtain the second-place position. As minutes continued to pass, Sexton would attempt to carve through lap traffic while trying to overtake Hunter Lawrence...but the multitude of variables, would deter Sexton’s plan(s) on occasion. Sexton would lose his visor while taking roost, but never lapsed in speed while continuing to chip away at the lead, in which the Honda rider had generated. However, a crash on behalf of the Australian (Lawrence) seemed to hand Sexton the first-place position with less than two laps to go...and once en route to the finish line, there was little that could deter the Illinois native from taking the win! Sexton’s momentum from the first moto was palpable, and maintained through the green flag circuit of the following round — where he acquired third, but quickly moved past Kyle Webster (on lap two) to claim second. He could then see Jason Anderson just ahead, and would lunge toward the rear wheel of the Kawasaki native when approaching the legendary Flyaway tabletop, amid the brief area of tries. Only five and a half minutes had transpired, but once flowing to the outside of the right-handed, sweeping bend just before the aforementioned section, Sexton seemed to make the pass work...definitively overtaking the first-place position before entering into the LaRocco’s Leap area. From that point onward, there was little that the competition could do, in order to nullify the lead that Sexton had created. He was flawless, and flowing alongside thousands of screaming fans, while visualizing his machine atop the final podium. And as the sixteenth circuit eventually concluded, it was Sexton who would win with an incredible, twenty-one second margin over the runner-up position...which translated to a perfect sweep of moto wins, and overall victory, in the record book!
