CHANCE HYMAS

The Idaho native had undoubtedly leapt into new territory to begin this 2024 250MX season...and that trajectory was sustained through the Red Bud MX National as well. Chance Hymas appeared to be extremely confident as he floated through the Michigan skyline in practice, and proceeded to carve through the corners of moto-one with incredible power while battling for the highest position possible. Through the first five minutes of action, Hymas had made his way into the lead (after a daring first lap charge through the initial trek of the Pro Section), and appeared to amplify the margin between he and Kawasaki’s Ty Masterpool. He was consistent, and polished through the roughest areas of track...until the twenty-one and a half-minute mark — where fatigue would “zap” his speed through the rollers, and subsequently cost him a position before the finish-line...relinquishing the lead to Ty Masterpool. Though in the laps that followed, Haiden Deegan and Tom Vialle were able to overtake him (too) before the conclusion of the moto...which forced Hymas to reside fourth, at the checkered flag. In the following round of racing, Hymas surged from the crest of the initial ski jump and into the switchback section that followed. The track had now been etched with dozen’s of ruts in every facet of the landscape, and Hymas was forced to recognize the fastest line(s) at incredible velocities, while being followed by the entirety of the field! He was attempting to blitz away while in the lead, and seemed extremely comfortable residing at the pinnacle of the field. He would fly, overtop the Pro Section triple, landing with remarkable momentum before flowing into the left and right-handed bend(s) that followed. After five minutes of action, his lead over Jo Shimoda had risen to over five-seconds, which was more than sufficient in regard to Hymas being able to choose his own lines, evade pressure etc...and he continued on that trajectory in the laps that followed. Through the halfway point, his margin over Shimoda had nearly reached upward(s) to nine-second(s), but his teammate (Jo) would continue to close-in when nearing the checkered flag. There was less than two laps left of competition when the athlete aboard the number thirty machine would diminish the margin to only bike lengths. Yet, Hymas remained engaged and in-control of the lead while persevering through lap traffic and a rutted racetrack, to claim the moto victory...and despite undergoing a slight penalty from the first moto (which only affected his championship point total), Hymas’ second moto win was enough to garner a first-place overall accolade as well!
