PIERCE BROWN

The execution of practice times were crucial to earn a solid gate choice within this 250MX division. Though the High Point circuit would provide a relatively even starting platform, it did seem as if the further one was on the outside of the grid...the less likely they were to pull the hole-shot. Nevertheless, Pierce Brown was willing to put forth the entirety of his arsenal, in regard to traits and skills on the motorcycle, in order to generate an admirable qualifying position. Once locked-into an eventual standing of tenth, there was little time to waste prior to embarking on the first moto. The rider out of Utah managed to leap from the metal grate and immediately begin to up-shift through the transmission, swooping to his left in order to try and gravitate toward the inner most point of turn number one. After banging bars, levers, and even shroud plastic alongside the other dozen’s of competitor on the track, he would seem to have established a flow within the top-twenty. The fight to a higher standing was quite daunting, but Brown was willing to engage in the highest speeds necessary, among fellow factory riders. Launching the uphill triple just before the finish line, many watched from the fence-line as he downshifted upon landing and cut to his left in order to defend one of the deepest ruts, from that of Jordon Smith who trailed. Both racers were on a similar pace among the elevational changes, though Smith seemed to have a bit more speed than Brown in instances of the far-side of the raceway. However, as the moto progressed, an absence of momentum wasn’t exhibited on his behalf...which led to a phenomenal charge to the checkered flag. However, a mistake of sorts would deter Brown throughout the running order...which enabled Nicholas Romano and Dilan Schwartz, to work their way around. Despite the late race trouble, where Jordon Smith and Levi Kitchen had also now distance themselves ahead, Pierce would seat-hop the final finish-line takeoff to secure thirteenth. For moto number two, Brown’s ability to pass and carve through the pack was pivotal in developing a notable early flow in this race, with the top three in the pack (consisting predominantly of Mark Fineis, Tom Vialle, and Ty Masterpool) looking to break away from the field rather quickly. He wanted to remain attached to that portion of riders for as long as possible, but was just a few seconds (or so) off of Masterpool’s pace...despite gaining a position (over Coty Schock) to acquire sixth, after just a few minutes of action. Brown was staying alongside Jo Shimoda (who was fifth) while reading messages (via pit-board scribing) from his mechanic. There was little room for error when landing from the largest flyaway triple that was across the racetrack from the starting gate, where he Brown would have to land atop the foot-pegs and remain standing through the ravines that were now dug among the hills. Any deviation of too far left, or right, could result in serious disaster...but it was an undoubted strong suit within his array of tricks per se...throughout the surplus of thirty-minute racing action. Ultimately categorized in a position of sixth, after keeping Joey Savatgy and Julien Beaumer at bay, Brown’s attrition was undoubtedly a defining factor in being established within the eighth-place overall standing.
