HUNTER LAWRENCE

After a stunning ride was put forth on his behalf at Fox Raceway, Hunter Lawrence knew that he could contend for the championship in this 450MX division. Though the task would be quite tough, given the competition he was up against, the elder of the Lawrence brothers put his best foot forward as action began on Saturday. His times in practice were commendable, and preceded a notable output of speed where he was spotted running in second to his brother, Jett Lawrence, to begin the first moto of the afternoon. However, Hunter would see firsthand, the sequence of his brother violently crashing to the ground. Though certainly concerned, Hunter had no choice but to move forward and take the role of leading the field around. The number ninety-six looked fluid while in the pinnacle position, and maintained a lead through (roughly) third minutes of action. The number ninety-six was taking advantage of this opportunity...until Chase Sexton would come into the picture, with literally two minutes remaining on the clock! It was at that point, where Lawrence was forced to oblige to Sexton’s outside pathway when exiting the second corner on the racetrack — doing his best to push Sexton’s momentum to the outside of the racetrack, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to keep the KTM rider behind him. Though the ninety-six was aggressive on the uphill and in corners thereafter, the retaliation that Hunter showcased was beyond admirable...especially with how fast the tandem were going! As the checkered flag neared, it was Lawrence who was set to take second...and resided here as the dust settled on this eventful opening portion of events. Occupying fourth to begin the second moto, he could sense that his brother was right behind him. And though he was initially passed by his teammate, as the narrative progressed, Jett began to fade...and Hunter would actually regain the position over his brother (now occupying third) with just under ten minutes remaining on the clock. But Sexton’s infiltration of podium territory had to be acknowledged, and would result in a daring move being made by the KTM rider on one of the latter downhills...this pushed Lawrence to fourth in the running order. Now behind Justin Cooper, Lawrence would strive to try and topple the Yamaha rider...but it was to no avail. And Hunter was forced to reside fourth as this moto concluded — but his consistent scores equated his Honda machine to an admirable second-place standing in the overall record book, as all was finalized!
