JETT LAWRENCE

Knowing what was at stake for this seventeenth round of racing, Honda’s Jett Lawrence would embody all of the necessary characteristics in order to occupy the championship at the end of the evening. The rider from Australia had taken the industry by storm in recent months, and wanted to definitely stamp his name into the history books once and for all, while racing in Salt Lake City, Utah. After practice, where he appeared flawless, Lawrence put his efforts into the realm of heat one...where despite undergoing a bit of a blocking attempt/slamming from the inside pathway via Cooper Webb’s Yamaha in the first turn, Lawrence was unfazed by the action(s) of the championship rival and proceeded to burst forward with exceptional momentum. His technique was flawless when leaping onto countless tabletops, tripling his way through the toughest of combinations all the while hearing a persistent revving of a top-tier competitor. It was Justin Barcia who wasn’t going to let him go, and the New York native was relentless in trying to surpass him. However, Lawrence continued to put forth quite the clinic in regard to how a motorcycle could be ridden at its highest velocities...and took the checkered flag with style, for the conclusion of the heat race. The red-plate holder would align on the grid with his sights set on the highest of feats — and exploded from the metal grate, with a multitude of scenarios in mind, for the main event. He would begin around the sixth place standing, but was immersed among a cluster of riders that were all full of competitiveness and determination. He seemed to find a flow around the sixth-place spot, before seeing his brother get taken out by Jason Anderson. He appeared to flirt with the idea of retaliation not long thereafter, but would wash the front-end when attempting to triple onto the tabletop that was just after the “SX” triple. The near crash would calm the emotion(s) of the red-plate holder, where took placement just behind Jason Anderson and Justin Barcia. With Malcolm Stewart now approaching, he was a bit hesitant to simply allow Stewart by...but as the two battled one another, Lawrence appeared to relinquish the standing to the Husqvarna rider. He was now into seventh, and would stay here through the final moments of competition...eventually crossing over the final double, with more importantly, the championship designation for the 2024 SX Championship!
