MALCOLM STEWART

Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart had presented countless instances of speed thus far in the 2024 season, and his tenure within the city of Birmingham was no different as the Floridian excelled amongst practice laps. Carving through bowl-turns and flattened corners alike, he appeared ready for what ever obstacle approached as he battled alongside the best in the division. He knew he could contend for a top-tier position within the heat race that followed, and as the gate(s) fell for the opening 450cc heat race, Malcom had acquired the seventh-place position. In an instant however, he was up to fifth-place and seeking to move around New York’s Justin Barcia. The amateur rivals were constantly swapping lines, which was rather difficult on this canvas that really promoted inside pathways when viewing the landscape as a whole. Nevertheless, the pressure that Stewart put forth would not necessarily equate to a pass on Barcia (yet), but to an advancement past Dylan Ferrandis (on the fifth lap). Barcia was the next opponent in sight, and as Stewart soared into various high-rising one-eighty turns on the track, he appeared as if his entrance speed was arguably the best in the division! He was absolutely flying when in pursuit of the top-three, and eventually made a pass on the fifty-one while infiltrating a marginal gap that separated he and Jason Anderson! Literally when approaching the final corner, Stewart was only milliseconds from the rear wheel of the New Mexico native — but the racer from Florida would have to settle for third, despite the battle with a multitude of amateur rivals. For lap one of the main event, Malcolm would have unfortunate luck by only being able to obtain an eighteenth-place residency. However, he wouldn’t quit and would make unbelievable passes while pivoting amid apex’s of corners — squaring up various bends with his clutch engaged, and releasing the plethora of RPM within the 450cc motorcycle at its maximum capacity, which propelled him into fourteenth by the sixth circuit. Now battling with Shane McElrath and Adam Cianciarulo, he would clear both opponents as the eleventh lap came to fruition. And now with roughly half the moto remaining, it was time to chip away at the gap between he, Barcia, and Anderson...which was a replicated scenario of what had just occurred in the heat race! Though this time, Malcolm wasn’t able to advance around “JB51”///and as a result, would exit the raceway with a hard-fought tenth place overall — eager to begin racing events, at the rounds on the horizon.
