Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson had proven (yet again) that his talent level was top-notch at the Budds Creek event last week, where the New Mexico native would rally through the pack and exhibit an elevated level of stamina amongst demanding outdoor conditions. Undoubtedly, he planned to replicate those actions at the Ironman racetrack, where Jason would use his free-flowing style to travel from rut to rut in a manner that was furthest from hurried...where his rolling speed would captivate those on the fence-line before establishing his number twenty-one machine on the starting line. Once here, it would be a matter of milliseconds that separated the first dozen (or so) riders into the first corner, where the Kawasaki competitor would speed forward amongst pelting roost to secure fifth in the early going. He would steadily process closer and closer to the rear wheel of Adam Cianciarulo, overtaking his teammate’s position on lap three to then reside fourth. It was Aaron Plessinger who was next to be challenged, and the New Mexico native would then exhibit a charging feat that had fans around the facility cheering — with the number twenty-one overtaking the Ohio native prior to lap five being completed, where only the Honda tandem (of Jett Lawrence and Chase Sexton) remained. Anderson had once again proven that his talent was elite, after overcoming injury and revealing a promising sense of stamina amongst the most demanding conditions in all of two-wheeled racing. Though it was Dylan Ferrandis who conducted a late-race charge and would pass the number the number twenty-one on lap twelve —pushing Anderson to an eventual fourth-place residency, prior to advancing into the following race of the afternoon. He then processed his game-plan when sitting aboard the starting line for moto-two, rehearsing his line selection and second-choice options if opponents were in his way...and as engines roared amongst the launchpad once more, Anderson’s race (appeared) to be rattled, before it even started! A flinching of reaction times amongst he and Jett Lawrence, would seem to have the Kawasaki stalled on the starting grate — though somehow, the skillset of Anderson would create a superb standing of ninth, by the time the first lap had been completed. From there, it was a battle of passing riders as quickly as possible, where he had moved into fifth by lap-three; where Justin Barcia awaited him. After defending the fourth-place standing with a resilient effort, Barcia would be out-charged by the New Mexico native when passing by the mechanic’s area...with Anderson’s chassis dancing amongst the choppy terrain, to acquire fourth on the fourth circuit. It was then a matter of if Jason could track-down Aaron Plessinger by the time the final flag would be thrown. Extraordinary effort(s) would be made on behalf of Anderson at that point, but “AP” was too far ahead by the time the final bell would ring per se...leaving Anderson to occupy fourth, for a hard-fought fourth overall on the day.
