The number twenty-three of Chase Sexton would strive to claim victory as he and his surrounding team rolled into the premises of Ironman Raceway. Being a native of nearby Illinois, Sexton had numerous fans in his corner as the green flag was thrown for practice, with cheers and tremendous amounts of applause being cast his way while he gravitated to the top of the leaderboard. Eventually securing a top-tier gate choice, Chase would then shift his mentality into focusing on the initial segments of moto-one, where a leap to the front of the field would be critical. Therefore, as soon as the metal pin unlatched from the bracket that kept his motorcycle contained, he immediately began a process of upshifting and moving to the rear wheel of the seat; to gather a standing of third behind Aaron Plessinger as the green flag waved. However prior to lap-two concluding, Sexton had now occupied the second-place residency; with his sights set on capturing the lead that the Australian rider had created. A significant charge was made by the Illinois native in the next few laps, where only bike lengths would separate the two opponents...but as the halfway point came to pass, it was as though Lawrence’s reign over top the field would continue. Sexton was riding extremely well while hitting his respective marks and carving his chassis into the corners of the Ironman Raceway, but his pace was just a slight bit less (in terms of overall speed) in comparison to his Honda counterpart. Therefore as laps passed upward to the fifteen and sixteenth mark, it was Sexton who proceeded to conserve his energy for the second moto...earning the runner-up position as the checkered flag was thrown, while aiming for another attempt during round two. His start to the following portion of competition, arguably couldn’t have been better (without otherwise pulling the hole-shot, that is), with Jett just a bike length ahead as they exited turn-three. Dylan Ferrandis had crashed after earning the hole-shot designation, and placed the Honda tandem into an inseparable one-two battle as they sped through the first quarter of the moto. He (Chase Sexton) began to distance himself from Aaron Plessinger as well, making multiple charges to the rear wheel of Lawrence — and appearing to gain ground in some of the faster areas of the track. However the number eighteen remained engaged while monitoring the gap in which he’d created, “leveling-up” if you will, when Sexton would amount a significant increase in speed. But the number twenty-three wasn’t becoming frustrated, and instead, used the fuel as a motivation to elevate to an even higher pace — which was evident in the closing moments of action. Throughout the last five minutes or so, the Illinois native would do everything in his power to try and capture the lead from the number eighteen, but it was to no avail...and though less than two-seconds behind the Australian at the final passing of the finish-line, the second-place earned in the final moto of the series, would grant him second-overall for an overall standing, too.
