Stating his excitement for the racecourse in New York prior to practice commencing, Aaron Plessinger’s approval of the Unadilla circuit had spanned for numerous years throughout his professional career thus far...but the overall time of his final qualification residency (i.e. eighteenth) wasn’t to the approval of his own level of standard. Therefore many hypothesized that “AP” would storm from the starting gates and into the first corner of moto-one with an abundance of aggression...which was the case while he acquired a seventh-place standing to conclude the first lap. Though normally a rider who could launch into the flat-lands of any raceway via his suspension and long limbs, he would have to be mindful of doing that on the Unadilla raceway due to the abundance of ruts. But even as he began to adapt and land with his rear wheel within the perfect pocket of particular downslopes, Plessinger would engage forward with countless bouts of prominent speed. Seventh became sixth, and he then began to stalk the rear wheel of Adam Cianciarulo...which allowed him to pass Garrett Marchbanks all the while. Now into fifth, it was a race between KTM and Kawasaki in regard to who could reach the finish-line first. Though that of the number-nine machine ultimately was finalized ahead, Plessinger would return to the line for the second showcase more determined than ever. He proceeded to transition amongst the earliest laps of round-two with tenacity, speeding past the mechanic’s area in an aerodynamic stance to corral as much momentum as possible while occupying ninth on the leaderboard. He then began to climb the ladder of the leaderboard after executing multiple passes and following a pass on Harri Kullas, it was then a matter of time before he and Adam Cianciarulo would feud again. The climax of their battle would take place just after the halfway poinit, with both riders refusing to depart from the line of choice, while hoping to secure fifth in the running order. But it was Plessinger who eventually made the pass finalized on the tenth lap, where he then began to sprint toward the checkered flag to the best of his ability. It was only a matter of time before he and Jason Anderson were then set to quarrel over fourth, but the New Mexico native was too far ahead to be overtaken prior to the clock striking zero. Therefore as engines ceased for the second event of the weekend, it was Plessinger who gathered fifth for this moto as well, to be solidified in fifth (overall) for round nine of the Pro Motocross Championship.
