The number ninety-six of Hunter Lawrence had fought through tremendous adversity to remain within a considerable distance of capturing the red-plate, following the sixth round of the AMA Pro Motocross circuit in Southwick, Massachusetts. He’d encountered both injuries, and bike-trouble, prior to embarking on the track at Spring Creek on Saturday — but there was little that could stop the Australian from flourishing following the conclusion of practice. For the first moto, Lawrence’s start would be well-respected while looking to track-down Kawasaki’s Jo Shimoda; as Hunter continued to persevere through the first-lap chaos, to accrue eighth at the green flag. It was then a process of making passes on competitors such as Ryder DiFrancesco, Tom Vialle, and RJ Hampshire; whom he’d slide around with swift maneuvering and countless inside-to-outside pathways. His chassis was tracking extremely well, which granted him an opportunity to make his way around Justin Cooper with incredible episodes of charging; and also put him into a position to pass Haiden Deegan, as the Yamaha rider would make a mistake on the fifth circuit. Those moves would be established on lap six, where it was then a process of battling amongst two rivals (i.e. Shimoda and Lawrence) as the halfway point came to fruition. Valuable second(s) would steadily be erased on behalf of the Honda rider, whom would hunt the rear wheel of the number thirty with immense focus while looking through the lens of his goggles...and by the sixteenth circuit, it would be time for Lawrence to engage in an incredible pass that was for many to process; as he portrayed an absolutely staggering sense of speed when racing past the mechanic’s area! He would maintain an inside line when completing the second-half of the right-handed bend, leaping onto the following straightaway with authority! He then held onto the lead as the final minutes of action passed, to claim victory as the checkered flag was thrown! The latter portion of racing wasn’t long thereafter, and Hunter would be designated with the hole-shot award after a brilliant jump and aspirations to push his Honda across the chalk-line first. This would establish a tone and precedent that couldn’t be infiltrated by his counterparts, where the opposition would watch from afar as he steadily amassed a prominent lead. Lap after lap, Lawrence seemed to be in total control of the field while storming through the ten, fifteen, and twenty-minute mark(s). However, with two full laps left to be completed, Lawrence would be overwhelmed with lap-traffic and made a mistake; causing him to lose his visor, all the while relinquishing the lead to Justin Cooper! He unfortunately wouldn’t have time to regain the first-place residency, and would have to fiercely defend the runner-up category from that of Jo Shimoda...but it was second-place categorization in moto two, would ultimately grant him the overall win!
