With racing at a high altitude, comes a myriad of elements that athletes in the 250cc class would have to combat while participating at the Thunder Valley national on Saturday. But it was difficult for anyone to tell that Jalek Swoll had a lapse of power or stamina, as practice was underway in the earliest morning hours. He would master the layout with precision and impeccable timing, flying through the Colorado skyline with excellent technique prior to moving into the moto’s that followed. As forty riders then dove into turn number one of the opening showcase, he would complete the lap thereafter in a position near eighth — while hoping to make up as much time as possible on the leader, Justin Cooper. The hip double that was just after the mechanic’s area would be a means of attack, and the downhill thereafter as well; where he clicked into fourth gear and would nullify the urge to slow down as he charged into the corner that followed. Those on the fence line could hear the chain slap against the swing-arm while he applied both brakes, prior to being erased by immense power that would radiate from the revving of his engine. This would lead him to the halfway point of the moto, where he and Ryder DiFrancesco seemed to be locked into an identical flow while eyeing the twenty-minute mark. The track had become slick in certain spots, including in the first “horse-shoe(d)” left-hander that proceeded the initial downhill on the circuit, where time and time again he would combat the wheel spin of his powerful Husqvarna 250F with a feathering of the clutch. His travels to the finish-line couldn’t be deterred after stringing countless laps together, where he garnered tenth prior to moving into moto two. There was little room to breathe as circuits would unfold in the second race of the afternoon, with muddy soil being flung every which way by every competitor in this rampant 250cc class! He and his Husqvarna would be on-point from the moment the bell rang, and would fly past the mechanic’s area time and time again while seeking to escalate higher on the leaderboard. He would look to his team member for cues and signals before diving into the right-handed corner that followed, leaping from the forthcoming valley with authority and a revved engine before storming to the finish-line with none other than Caden Braswell just seconds behind. Though no matter how great the pressure became, the Floridian (i.e. Swoll) was willing to do whatever it took to capture tenth in the running order. That accolade was eventually his, which then equated to a remarkable tenth place overall being scored.
