With only two races left in the 250cc SX Championship, the emphasis that was placed upon Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Carson Mumford to do well in the final leg of the tour could hardly be quantified. As an athlete, the California resident was extremely focused on gathering the strongest results possible; maintaining a tremendous work ethic throughout the championship thus far and hoping to concluded his tenure at “PC” on a high note. Which by all means, was carried into qualification in Denver with authority; as the Kawasaki rider was one of the first to launch onto the overall leaderboard with a notable time. The likes of Max Vohland and Enzo Lopes were some of the strongest riders (initially), and as the track developed, Honda’s Jett Lawrence would throw his name into the winning equation as well. He aspired to mimic the Honda rider throughout the various corners on the circuit, and as a result, would garner a direct bid to heat two where stakes would rise even higher. The track was groomed to perfection at this point, where traction was of abundance when riding through the flattest corners on the surface; hovering to the inside in the corner after the mechanic’s area and the first turn, as well, where he could immediately fight for the lead He would compress the shock as hard as possible when flying into the longest rhythm lanes, nearly touching the front fender with his helmet while pushing the chassis into the pocket(s) upon landing, always in the correct RPM range in order to conquer the next obstacle on the horizon. And once executing the various sectors of the layout with perfection, it would be Mumford who would work past both, Enzo Lopes and Honda’s Mitchell Oldenburg! However the three riders continued to shuffle, and after leading three laps (in totality), it would be Lopes who would move just ahead of Mumford in the corner before the finish-line; to push Carson away from the leading designation, and eventually into a respectable third-place designation (where he would reside). The execution of the first two (or so) laps of the main event would be critical, where he immediately enacted a pace that was equivalent to fourth, on the overall leaderboard. Landing from the finish-line and doing his best to put power to the ground on the straightaway that followed, he was somehow managing to nullify wheel-spin when fighting amid the top-five. He would reside in the aforementioned category for five laps, before being overtaken by Mitchell Oldenburg, Derek Kelley, and Maximus Vohland, respectively. Though Mumford’s pace wasn’t able to be sustained for the entirety of the moto inside the top-five, the Kawasaki rider would once again prove that he was solidified as a top-ten overall mainstay, amid this challenging 250cc SX West Coast circuit; where he eventually accrued eighth place overall, respectively.
