The distinguished race-craft of Cooper Webb would be brought to the Pacific Northwest for round eleven of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. The consensus of the industry would be deemed correct as riders launched onto the raceway for practice, navigating through murky soils that would immediately be imprinted with wheels of all in the 450cc brigade. Ruts would fill the soil in every facet, but Webb found a way to thrive while residing ninth before entering into his heat race. Once positioned into a gate that set him up for the inside(s) of turn number one, there was an immediate battle between he and his adversaries while they dove into the tight space(s) of turn number one. Generating a spectacular lead before taking the green flag, there was little room for error as Jason Anderson pursued him with a high regard to move forward. But Webb’s competitive spirit embodied an eagerness to win, which would allow him to pull from the number twenty-one throughout various rutted rhythm sections as laps were stockpiled while within the pinnacle of the leaderboard. His lap-times were prominent, navigating through the whoops which were becoming chipped with various edges and subtle ruts with speed before scrubbing the rather simplified “SX” triple. Patterns like these would be conducted until roughly two laps remained, when Chase Sexton would begin to reel in the North Carolina native. Sexton’s transitional speed was eye-opening, but Webb was steadfast in pursuit of the checkered flag as they soared through the final rhythm section. The Honda rider traveled to only bike lengths, behind the rear wheel of the KTM rider...but it was to no avail as the number two soared across the finish line jump with a daring look back, aiming and firing (with a hand motion) into the vicinity of Sexton who trailed; almost as if he’d evaded pursuit and the gun smoke was indicative of a fugitive who’d avoided being captured, collecting a ransom (of victory) before heading into the main event! Though the start to the main event was a bit less than optimal, running around the seventh-place residency before quickly advancing to the top-five. Barcia would be next to be passed on behalf of Cooper Webb, and Roczen was now in the crosshairs. But before he could work his way around the Suzuki competitor, Webb would take advantage of Sexton’s mistake just two corners after the finish line (around nine and a half minutes into the moto). This would move him to third, where moments thereafter he would see an opening and means to pass the Suzuki rider on an inside trajectory. Leaping onto the tabletop (where Jett Lawrence and Cameron McAdoo had come together) Webb’s pace through the left-side of the longest rhythm lane on the track would topple Roczen’s sense of momentum, pushing him to second before the forthcoming left that followed. Half of the moto still remained, therefore Webb would vow to try and attack Tomac as much as possible in order to (hopefully) occupy the lead. However he couldn’t mount a charge that was fast enough to overtake the number one, leaving him in the runner-up position through the white flag and eventual checkered flag lap(s); claiming second as engines ceased and leaving Seattle tied with Tomac for the points lead!
