MATT GOODBRED
My name’s Matt Goodbred. I’m 19yrs old from Hudson Falls, NY.
What kickstarted your interest in motorcycles?
Just the love for the sport, there’s honestly nothing else like it!
Do you have any experience racing dirt bikes?
I raced growing up for a couple of years just doing local races and riding.
What made you want to pursue a job as a mechanic?
I’ve always had an interest for spinning wrenches and really like working on bikes so I figured I’d give it a shot.
What is a typical day at the track like for you?
Wake up, head to the shop, pack up the van, and head out to whatever track we are riding that day. So some motos or whatever they have on their schedule for that day and then head back to the shop and wash the bike and do any maintenance that needs to be done to the bike.
Most rewarding experience you’ve had while working as a mechanic?
I think the most rewarding part is seeing your rider do good at a race and accomplish one of their goals and knowing that you played a large role in it.
Most challenging experience you’ve had while working as a mechanic?
I would say the most challenging thing would be just staying on top of your game and making sure the bike is 100% every time they go on the track so they can perform at their highest level.
What other sports are you into besides motocross?
I’m a fan of hockey.
Favorite race of the year?
I would have to say Unadilla national as that’s my local hometown race.
Favorite professional racer from the past or present?
I would say my favorite pro racer would be Christian Craig.
What’s your best advice for a new mechanic just starting out?
The best advice I could give would be to bust your butt, work hard, and stay dedicated and always have a good attitude!
