TYLER SMITH

What’s your name and where are you from?

My name is Tyler Smith and I'm from Spicewood, Texas.

What classes do you race?

I race 250B Limited, 450B Limited, Schoolboy 1, and 125 (12-17).

How did you get into motorcycles?

My dad bought me a dirt bike when I was around 5 years old. He was already racing and had been riding for ten years. I remember running into a fence third gear wide open on a CRF50. I was perfectly fine.

Tell us about your first race.

My first race was when I was 9 years old and I was riding a KX65, and I got a 3rd place trophy and was super happy!

What other sports do you like?

I like some football and some basketball.

Describe a typical day at the track for you.

My day starts out by waking up and eating breakfast and then driving to the track to warm up my body and get the blood flowing in the gym. I ride from 10 am until about 2 in the afternoon. We sometimes do motos or sprints, and we sometimes do section work with some technique. I workout at around 3:30 and that usually lasts about an hour, then I go home and do my homework. I wait for dinner and after dinner, I play some video games and then go to bed.

Favorite meal to have before you race?

My favorite meal before a race is usually spaghetti or chicken teriyaki with rice and some vegetables.

Best moment on a motocross bike?

My favorite moment is when I qualified for Loretta's for the very first time in 2017. This was a huge achievement in my career and motivated me to go faster and train for the big race.

Best road trip story.

My best road trip story is when we were on the road to an Area Qualifier  in Missouri in 2018 and my buddy Gage Blocker and I had to sleep in the garage of my RV while the RV was moving. The ride was so bumpy, it was funny. I didn't get a good sleep that night because of the road, but me and Gage were laughing so hard that we both fell asleep.

What’s your favorite track to ride?

My favorite track to ride is Quick's Moto Ranch because the ruts are big and the track is fun and maintained very well!

Who is your favorite professional racer and why?

My favorite pro is Ken Roczen because he is always positive even if he did bad that day, he still looks ahead to the next weekend and puts the bad weekend behind him.

I would like to thank all my sponsors. My mom and dad, TM Racing Texas, HP Race Development, Mobius, Gaerne, Munn Racing, Hil, Country Custom Cycles, On Track School, Thor, Motion Pro, Shoei, Kyle Regal, Zak Mashburn, Quicks Moto, Tyler Livesay.
