KELLEN CARRIGAN

What’s your name and where are you from?

Kellen “Manimal” Carrigan from Parker, Colorado.

What classes do you race?

51cc (7-8), 51cc Open, and 65cc (7-9) Limited.

How did you get into motorcycles?

My stepbrother got a PW50 for his 6th birthday and he let me ride it. Also, my best friend Wyatt Kemble raced so he got me to race, too.

Tell us about your first race.

My dad picked me up from school with a new Cobra P3 and said we were headed to Texas to race a Loretta Area Qualifier so we drove six hours to race and I ended up with a 4th place!

What other sports do you like?

Football and golf.

Describe a typical day at the track for you.

We get to the track, while my dad unloads the bikes and gets them ready, I say hi to my friends and get ready to ride. I take a couple of sight laps while my dad looks over the track. We talk about what we need to focus on and I put in two to three twenty-minute motos. Afterward, it’s up to me to keep riding for fun or hang out with my friends.

Favorite meal to have before you race?

Chicken fried steak and salad.

Best moment on a motocross bike?

Getting my very first holeshot last year with a stacked gate and Gage Dunham who finished 3rd at Loretta’s. Gage congratulated me after the race which made me feel even better.

Best road trip story.

Going to California to race a Loretta’s Regional at Fox Raceway. We stopped in Utah to hike Zion National Park, went to Newport Beach, and then stopped at Milestone MX where I got to ride with Justin Barcia and Cole Seely before heading down to the Regional.

What’s your favorite track to ride?

Underground MX! Best dirt, amazing layout, and great racers.

Who is your favorite professional racer and why?

Justin Barcia, he’s one of the nicest pro riders I’ve met. He’s a great rider and he told me a tip while riding at Milestone MX.

Who would you like to thank for helping you out?

My dad for being my mechanic, coach, role model, driver, and putting my needs before his. My stepmom and sister for sacrificing a lot to be there during my races. Zak Mashburn, Mitchel Gifford, and Robert Imondi for training and building my confidence.  I’d also like to thank Money Inc Motors, Mike High Minis, and Pro Racing Suspension for helping me be ready to race.
