AMY COCHRAN

AMY COCHRAN

What’s your name?

Amy Cochran

Where are you from?

Clermont, Florida

Who is(are) your rider(s)?

Casey Cochran

How long have you been a moto mom?

Ten years

Were you into motorcycles before becoming a moto mom?

Yes, my dad owns a Honda/Yamaha dealership so I grew up riding. It’s in my blood!

Describe a typical race weekend for you.

We race a lot so race weekends are basically like any other day for us.  We get up early, have a good breakfast and start getting bikes prepped for the day.  We try to keep a very positive environment in the camp and pray for great results.  Also, a lot of cornhole gets played in our pits to try and keep a relaxed environment and keep it fun!

What’s your family’s favorite meal at the track?

At the track, we eat a lot of chicken and gravy and biscuits.  We also have a lot of pasta, Casey’s favorite!

Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions while spectating?

Yes, Casey and I always do this little fist bump ritual and I give him a kiss and tell him I love him before he pulls off. This is the most important to me, I want him to know he is loved to the moon and back!

Most nerve-wracking moment watching your kid(s) race/ride?

When he is winning, I am always so nervous that he will make a mistake. I also get super nervous when he is in lap traffic.

Favorite part about being at the track?

Spending time with my family.

Favorite and least favorite part about traveling to the races?

My favorite part is seeing new places and traveling around the country!  Least favorite is all the long drives.

Craziest travel story?

We were headed to Redbud for a regional and I was driving our toterhome and Doug was asleep in the back.  I had a driver tire blow out going 70mph.  It was for sure a wild ride and I thank God every day for protecting our family. It was super scary!

The most important lesson motocross teaches at a young age.

I think it teaches discipline, hard work, dedication, and structure.

What’s your secret to getting all the dirt stains out of riding gear?

Easy one!  Totally Awesome that you get at the dollar store.  It can get anything out, even that red Georgia clay from MotoXCompound!

Proudest moment of your career as a moto mom thus far?

My proudest moment is when I see Casey get the win and he smiles so big.  Every win is special and I know how hard he works because I am with him every day and when the hard work pays off I can see it on his face!

What’s your favorite track?

Loretta Lynn’s hands down.  The main reason is because it is a track that no one has an advantage on because you can’t ride it every day. It evens the playing field.

Who is your favorite pro racer?

KEN ROCZEN!!! He is a great role model and his comeback story is like no other!

What is your favorite genre of music?

80’s rock! AC/DC, Guns and Roses. You get it!

What is your favorite movie/tv show?

My favorite movie is Top Gun! I mean, hey I married a real-life Top Gun pilot!

What is in your red solo cup?

Usually, Coke Zero if racing is going on. After the last moto that is subject to change!

Any advice for the moto moms of the future?

Love your baby and always cheer them on.  They are kids in a very demanding sport and they need to know you are always proud win or lose!
